The Cross of Christ: Reflections

"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written:" Cursed is whoever hangs on the wood ")"  (Galatians 3:13)

The cross is a symbol that many Christians now have all over the world, a symbol also known by other religions as a sacred and important object. But what is the cross? What can the cross do? Why do many wear it around their neck?

There are crosses displayed everywhere with Christ crucified on them, and there are others empty. It is on it that my Lord, Savior and Redeemer died for me, where He paid for all my sins, for my illnesses and transgressions by taking all my guilt upon Him and carrying it on that cross. In short, Jesus has taken my place and yours.

But in reality, what is a cross? A cross is an instrument of torture, the most terrible and infamous of the time, because whoever was crucified was conscious until the end. You can imagine the suffering of the crucifixion. Times have advanced and evolved and there are other methods to kill or torture people, there has been hanging, beheading, up to the present day with electric chair, gas chamber and lethal injection. The question is, would you wear one of these torture instruments around your neck as a necklace?

Dear friends, times go by and also quickly, but God does not change. You know what, the cross was just an instrument that Jesus died on, but now He is no longer on that cross, He is alive! The most just and eloquent thing could be a tomb, a sepulcher. Yes, that's it. It is what is left, an empty tomb. Christ Jesus is risen, and he is alive! Don't lean on any symbol that remembers suffering or death, but open your heart to that living Christ risen once and for all.

If you really want to know Jesus Christ, read the gospel.
