Did You Know ... Commonplaces And False Teachings Examined In The Light Of God's Word

Did you know that...

  • ... was the Apostle Peter married? (Gospel of Matthew 8:14)
... and that other Apostles and preachers of the Gospel were also married? (1st Letter to the Corinthians 9,5)

Did you know that...

  • ... can the bishop marry and have children? (1st Letter to Timothy 3,2-5; Titus 1,6)

Did you know that...

  • ... does the doctrine of Jesus not contemplate the second marriage , except for the spouse who is betrayed or becomes a widower? (Gospel of Matthew 19.9)
... whoever commits adultery and is therefore sent away by his spouse, cannot remarry? (Gospel of Mark 10: 11-12)

Did you know that...

  • ... does the New Testament contain everything you need to live Christianity? (2nd Letter to Timothy 3: 14-17) and that anyone who claims the authority to change anything to the teachings written in the Bible, even if he were a heavenly creature, is cursed by God? (Letter to Galatians 1,8-9)

Did you know that...

  • ... was the concept of the temple as "house of God" unknown to 1st century Christians? (Acts of the Apostles 17.24)
and that the term "church" in the meaning of "building of worship" was born only a few centuries after the 1st, while originally it meant only "assembly, group of people" (from the Greek ekklesìa)?

Did you know that...

  • ... the figure of Mary , mother of Jesus, has never been an object of worship or veneration, neither for the Apostles, nor for all the Christians of the apostolic age?
and that there is no reference in the New Testament such as to make us think of having to give it divine attributes, such as for example the mediation between man and God, the latter role that belongs exclusively to Jesus Christ? (1 Timothy 2,5)

Did you know that...

  • ... is faith not something magical, indefinite, which casually affects only some people, but is it much more "concrete", closely linked to listening to the Word of God? (Romans 10:17)
and that without faith it is impossible to be pleasing to God? (Hebrews 11,6)

Did you know that...

  • ... does the term " holy " mean "separate, secluded"?
and that in the New Testament were all Christians called that? (Romans 1,7 - 1 Corinthians 1,2) since the conversion to Christ made them separate from the way of thinking and living common to the pagans?
and that, without prejudice to these assumptions, whoever wishes to convert to Christ today becomes a saint for God in the true and biblical sense, without the need for him to die and to have a "beatification process" after a few years?

Did you know that...

  • ... have adultery, fornication and homosexuality always been frowned upon and condemned by God? (1 Corinthians 6,9)
and that the law of Moses provided for the immediate death penalty, while with Christ the possibility of repenting is given to man, through conversion and the consequent change of his sexual behavior, before the condemnation of God on the day of judgment?

Did you know that...

  • ... among the Ten Commandments is there one that prohibits man from building " images " or sacred sculptures? (Exodus 20,4-5)
and that the transgression of this commandment entailed the death penalty?

Did you know that...

  • ... the translation of the Bible by Jehovah's Witnesses has arbitrarily added the name "Jehovah" in the New Testament for "God" or "Lord" (referring to Jesus) over 200 times ? In fact, in the original manuscripts in the Greek language, "Jehovah" never appears!

Did you know that...

  • ... Mary , the mother of Jesus, had at least six other children after the birth of Our Lord by the work of God? The Gospel of Mark 6,3, for example, gives the names of four males and also mentions females (in the plural, we do not know if two or more than two), born from the relationship between Mary and her husband Joseph

Did you know that...

  • ... according to Catholicism, tradition (oral transmission of presumed divine teachings) must approach the written Revelation of God (the Bible), while Jesus taught that religious traditions are in clear antithesis with the Holy Book? (Gospel of Mark chap. 7)

Did you know that...

  • ... Jesus is the author of salvation only potentially "for all", but in fact only "for all those who obey him"? (Letter to the Hebrews 5,8)

Did you know that...

  • ... the distinction that is made in Catholicism between venial and mortal sins is unknown to the Gospel, according to which any iniquity is sin, without distinction (1 John 5:17)?
... and that if we repent, confess our sins to God and believe in Jesus' sacrifice, did Jesus himself promise that any sin will be forgiven, even blasphemies? (Mark 3,28-29, see also 1 John 1,9)

Did you know that...

  • ... the Sunday remembrance of the death and resurrection of the Lord, to be done by taking bread and wine (symbols of His body and His blood) must be done by all Christians without distinction, while Catholicism only makes the priest drink wine ?
... and that in the Bible this is not called " Eucharist ", but " Lord's Supper "? And that it is not a repetition of Christ's sacrifice, but a memorial? (1st Letter to the Corinthians 11,20,24-26)

Did you know that...

  • ... the term " baptism " - derived from the Greek of the New Testament - literally means "immersion", and that baptism by sprinkling (such as Catholic baptism) was unknown to first-century Christians?
... Baptism should not be done as a newborn, but as an adult, as it does not serve to take away the so-called "original sin" of Adam, but one's personal sins, based on one's personal faith and one's conscious request for persons ? (Mark 16,16; Acts 2,37-38, 22,16)
... are ceremonies such as "first communion" and "confirmation" absolutely unknown to the New Testament?

Did you know that...

  • ... the Christian people, according to the New Testament, must not be divided into " priests " and " lay people ", because this distinction was made only in the centuries following the first, while the Word of God considers all true Christians "priests. "in the sense of people who offer their lives and their praises to God? (Romans 12,1-2; 1 Peter 2,9; Revelation 1,6)

Did you know that...

  • ... Jehovah's Witnesses in the past have mistaken (although today they try to forget and hide it) several prophecies about the date of Christ's return, and that Scripture says that whoever misses a prophecy is a false prophet not to be heard for no reason? (Deuteronomy 18:22)

Did you know that...

  • ... is counting prayers a pagan practice that is severely condemned by Christ? (Matthew 6: 5-13)
the Rosary, for example, was only introduced in 1090, having been copied from that of the Mohammedans

Did you know that...

  • … Christmas is not a Christian holiday, that is, was it never instituted either by Jesus or by the Apostles in the New Testament?
and that its origins are instead pagan, having been unduly "adopted", a few centuries after Christ, a holiday extraneous to the Gospel, presenting it as a commemoration of the birth of Jesus?
and that no one knows exactly the day, the month, or the year of the Lord's birth?
and that the only certain thing that emerges from the sacred texts is that Jesus could not have been born in the middle of winter?

Did you know that...

  • Various recurrences (such as the Jubilee and Easter ) belong to the revelation of God for Israel, and only for Israel, while the New Testament absolutely does not provide for "adopting" them as "Christian" holidays and celebrations?
and that, since the Lord never indicated to celebrate a "Christian" Easter, already not long after Christ there was a vibrant controversy (among those who wanted to observe it) about the date on which to make it fall (demonstrating that the Lord said nothing in about)?
and that the Catholic Jubilee was instituted 1300 years after Christ by one of the worst popes ever, Boniface VIII, with clearly propaganda purposes and "commercial" convenience?
